“Black lives matter is a biggest rasist [sic] classification given a clan,” Muir replied. “Are we teasing me. Disgusting!!!”
Muir’s response, that has given been deleted, stirred a flurry of critique online, where some remarkable a misspelling in his strange post, and from university officials who pronounced it lifted “serious concerns” about a school’s joining to inclusion.
“While giveaway debate and open contention are elemental beliefs of a republic and a University, Mr. Muir’s critique was wholly inappropriate,” university officials pronounced in a statement. “UVA Engineering does not acquit actions that criticise a values, loyalty to farrago and educational mission.”
Muir, who teaches entrepreneurship in both a university’s School of Engineering and Darden School of Business, has “agreed to take leave” from a propagandize and is scheming to recover his possess statement, university officials said.
“UVA Engineering is educating a nation’s destiny leaders, problem-solvers and process makers,” a matter continued. “We design a expertise and staff to emanate a meridian that supports and engages all. This occurrence has bright a need for serve dialogue.”
Attempts to strech Muir, of Charlottesville, were not successful on Monday. According to his university expertise website, Muir is also a “seasoned restaurateur” with family-style Italian eateries in Charlottesville and Richmond.
An worker who answered a phone Monday during his Charlottesville eatery, Bella’s, pronounced Muir had not been during a restaurant since a debate erupted.

“I didn’t design this from him, though if this is how he feels, he doesn’t have anything else to contend to me,” Bellamy wrote on Instagram. “I would inspire everybody in a city to protest a restaurant.”
Bellamy’s post continued: “The idea that #BlackLivesMatter can be allied to a Klu Klux Klan is not usually impossibly misguided, though goes to uncover a miss informative recognition [sic] that still plagues many professors during a Universities opposite a country. An organization, a movement, a common physique that aims to commission Black People, and convene allies is not a terroristic organization, though one that aims to common move people together to residence systemic hardship and racism, among other things, is here to stay.”
Bellamy told The Post on Monday that he’s blissful Muir has taken a leave of absence.
“I trust that a University of Virginia should not concede Mr. Muir to be placed in front of students again until he has had a good understanding of informative competency training and veteran development,” he wrote in an email to The Post. “I have oral with Mr. Muir, and he has settled to me that he is repentant for his words, and we conclude that. However, that does not change a fact that he needs to be prepared on only accurately what Black Lives Matter is all about; putting an finish to systemic hardship and injustice, and a need for us to work together to mangle down these barriers. He has perceived recoil on amicable media, though he has also perceived a good understanding of praise, and in my opinion, that shows only how divided a village and a nation is.”
University officials apparently were alerted to a descent post when a Twitter user sensitive them on Wednesday, observant it’s “unacceptable” for a university techer to review Black Lives Matter with a Ku Klux Klan.
Tom Katsouleas, executive clamp boss and provost of a University of Virginia, pronounced he was “disturbed and saddened” by Muir’s post.
“This matter is unsuitable with a University of Virginia’s values and with a joining to a beliefs of educational freedom,” Katsouleas pronounced in a statement. “The University of Virginia stands resolutely opposite misapplication and amicable misapplication of any kind.”
Muir’s comments do not “foster egghead exploration, nor do they inspire a voices of others,” Katsouleas’ matter continued.
Muir has formerly worked as an airline captain for US Airways, according to his University of Virginia expertise web page. He’s now perplexing to enhance his fast of Italian restaurants.
