ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is reporting Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt has agreed to a 6-year, $ 100 million extension with the team.

The deal makes Watt the highest paid defensive player in the NFL, earning him $ 16.6 million a season through 2021.

Mortensen reports the contract contains $ 51.8 million guaranteed, the most for a defensive player in the history of the NFL.

Watt was the 11th overall pick in the 2011 NFL entry draft. He was the NFL’s defensive player of the year in 2012.
