BEIJING (AP) — Chinese President Xi Jinping is propelling a semiautonomous former Portuguese cluster of Macau to ensure opposite division by what he called antagonistic outmost army after enlarged pro-democracy protests in circuitously Hong Kong.
Xi’s Saturday remarks come after Beijing indicted unfamiliar army of fostering a pro-democracy Occupy Central transformation in Hong Kong, where protesters demanded a right to commission possibilities for a territory’s subsequent arch executive. The 79-day proof finished in mid-December. The U.S. has denied it fostered a protests.
Xi is visiting Macau to symbol a 15th anniversary of a lapse to Beijing.
Both Hong Kong and Macau are special executive regions where Beijing allows larger liberty underneath a “one country, dual systems” arrangement. However, Beijing does not wish to a regions to turn hotbeds of democracy movements.
